Surveys

We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.

Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

I started this walk from the Wednesbury end. It all works marvellously until the last 500m! At Lodge Road Metro Station, rather than crossing the tracks and following the ramp up to street level I continued to follow the path (as indicated by the route) to Moor Street, which can not be accessed. To get to the meeting place you have to follow the ramp on the other side of the path or continue on to West Bromwich Central Metro Station, which would be my preference. This route does neither. I shall post a corrected version via West Brom Central.

This was a fun local walk - its certainly not picturesque but we enjoyed walking a route we would so often drive, noticing all the small details of the canal and the industrial estate cafes.
This route follows the tram line most of the way which is easy to follow without having to keep referring back to the map.
It was fairly flat and easily accessible, apart from one section which changed from pavement to grass with a rough break in the path.
Once we were in Wednesbury we had fun exploring the Windmill folly and St Bartholemew's Church amd going to Teddy Greys for sweets :).
