Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

21 Aug 2023Pleasant country walk including stretch of riverside and water meadows. A few sections of roadside walking along A119, paved verges all the way. Dry at time of walking. Route at Woodhall park estate hugs the right hand side of the field.

11 Mar 2023 (edited 25 Mar 2023)So far my favourite slow way in Hertfordshire. Watton at stone is a charming village (pick up some local baked goods from the Budgens) Hedgerows, views of a stately house, countryside, a chalk river, tons of wildlife, and plenty of park benches. As of January 2023 the river beane has been restored to natural banks which I'm sure makes this even more lovely. Easy to navigate, mud in winter still manageable.

25 Apr 2021Easy walking in beautiful countryside following the River Beane for much of the way. The river is a chalk stream, one of only 210 identified in the world (of which 160 are in England).
