Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

15 Mar 2024A very direct route and easy to follow along mostly pavements plus grass verge.
Leaving Walsall crossing just below the top of Barr Beacon with lovey views before arriving into Streetly.
Another good Slowways.
You can always take the longer Wasstr three route which is a greener route with less pavement walking as an alternative.

28 Sep 2021Having looked at this on the map I wasn't really expecting very much from this Slow Way. The first decision was whether this was the better Slow Way than version one, which has an unnecessary climb and is more vague in its plotting. This is undoubtedly the better option. Having sensibly walked down the left hand side of St Matthews Church the route then involves a wander through terraced neighbourhoods. Soon you are on the wide pavements of the main road making a slow ascent towards Barr Beacon. There is only a short section without a pavement but the verge is very wide and even. As you get closer to Barr Beacon, the pavement recommences. There is no pedestrian crossing at the crossroads but I did not find it hard to cross. The descent towards Streetly affords great views into South Staffordshire. It's pavement all the way from there and the final section takes you through leafy residential streets of Streetly. This route is certainly direct and I found the amount of pavement walking offset by how wide the pavement is, or in some sections, how far it is from the road. The views are superb and there are plenty of stopping options throughout, particularly at the Walsall end. Could it be more offroad? I couldn't see how it could be without adding considerable distance. Most of the green ways run perpendicular to the route. Very, very easy to follow. Full marks.
