I have walked this route in both directions as it is now my infrequent commute on the occasional days I head into the office. I really look forward to the walk every time.

It is a lovely route through the best of London, past Buckingham Palace, through Green Park, across Piccadilly past the Ritz Hotel. Then into Mayfair, skirting Berkeley Square and window shopping up Bruton Street all the way to arrive at Oxford Circus. It is the same route as the Victoria Line, two stops, but seriously why would you take the tube?.

As a post script, this is definitely a daylight walk. Green Park is unlit at night and unless you are Charles Bronson in Death wish, I'd give it a swerve. Heading from Oxford Circus when I get to the Ritz , I turn left down Piccadilly then right down St. James St past the palace to the Mall. Then right to get to Buckingham Palace and you back on the route.

A Slow Way packed with interest! Setting off from Victoria, you're soon passing Buckingham Palace. The route loses a star for the indirect route around (rather than across) Green Park. The walk through Mayfair is easy to follow, although I was diverted around Conduit Street due to the presence of the fire brigade (only temporary). Overall, pretty direct, safe and interesting. Yes I think that's fair to say! Successfully links with transport. As for places to stop for refreshments...just a few!.

I walked this route from Oxford Circus to Victoria. Overall, I really enjoyed it.

It was nice to get close to Buckingham Palace, and Green Park is always very lovely.

Some of the streets it snaked along on the way to Green Park felt a bit unintuitive, but they were all safe and offered chances for unexpected urban exploration.

The route through Green Park is not as direct as it could be (you could take a direct diagonal path instead of following the edge of the park), but it’s not the end of the world, I suppose!.

This route cuts straight through the UK Monopoly board's most expensive property - Mayfair. And you can witness this for yourself - some of the most expensive shops in the UK line this route, along with Buckingham Palace. And what might just be London's narrowest pub.
