Description

This route is exactly the same as Tromel three from the beginning of the canal section onwards into Melksham but instead if heading out of Trowbridge along the roads, it mostly uses a paved cycle route by the railway to get to the canal. It is half a mile longer than Tromel three but more off-road and passes the railway station

Surveys

We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.

Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

Another decent route between these two places. It is exactly the same as Tromel three from the canal onwards but much more off-road at the Trowbridge end, and preferable if you want to go via the railway station.

My main review for this Slow Way is on Tromel three so this one is just for the alternative bit at the Trowbridge end, which is a cycle/footpath which goes from the station to the canal by the railway, with a short section on a quiet residential road in the middle. There’s not a lot to see, but it has a good surface, it is very easy to navigate and would, I think be much the best route if you were on a bicycle. There are currently hoardings flanking it on a short section near the railway where there is a development site, but I presume these are temporary.
