14 Jul 2022July 2022. Direction: Ystrad Mynach to Treharris.
This is another walk through a former mining area, now converted into a green parkland, Parc Penallta. As the Penallta colliery was one of the later ones to close (1991), the park is not as mature as some of the other parks in neighbouring valleys, but it still makes for a lovely Slow Way, with easy walking along the metalled path / cycle way. The path runs parallel with the active railway line for most of the way to Trelewis. There are plenty of options for some additional walks, especially around the Bargoed Taff river area - highly recommended.
