We returned from Dollar to Tilli via this route, having headed to Dollar via Tildol Two. We headed straight down Station Road from the start though and then right onto Dewar Street, rather than heading along the A91 initially, just to keep off the main road as much as possible. This is a beautiful route, and one we have walked/run bits of quite often. It is definitely less suited to bikes though (hence giving it 4 stars), though as with most off road routes you could get round with a mountain bike ok. Tildol 1&2 are definitely better options for most bikes. The forestry track at Sheardale has been pretty much destroyed by forestry lorries at the bottom, and the track through the woods is very muddy in places, but easy enough to go round. We didn’t take the left turn to go around the southern edge of the field above Tillicoultry Mine, due to a fallen tree across it, so we stayed on the main track and then turned along the river at the old bridge instead. This is a very beautiful route with plenty to look at, and I definitely recommend it.

I walked this on a damp summer day from Tillicoultry to Dollar and then returned using TILDOL two. It was a very pleasant circuit of just under 7.5 miles, The route was accurately mapped and there were no real difficulties, although at one point the path followed the edge of a field of cows and calves. There was some mud in the woods and very long wet grass in parts which hid some of the path near the end, but waymarkers for the River Devon Trail kept me right. I would certainly recommend this varied route following the course of the River Devon initially near its banks then high above, with views over to the Ochils. I think the route would not be suitable for two wheels although bikers might manage.

A nice route, that takes in some of the industrial history of the area as it passes by the former mine where some interpretation panels tell its story. I enjoyed walking on the narrow paths and the farm tracks, through woodland, across meadows and finally following the river before arriving into Dollar from the south side and a welcome cup of tea and piece of cake at the cafe just by the meeting point. This route is accurately mapped and I thoroughly recommend it.
