02 Jun 2023I walked / surveyed this route earlier this week, travelling from Tetbury. I thoroughly enjoyed it, having done Tetmal two last week. I had no issues really, acknowledged there are 14 stiles, 6 ped gates, 6 field gates, 4 stone stiles, and one set of seven steps. The two estates crossed, all very well groomed, and benign. As stated previously, there are no facilities in the middle third.

18 Jun 2021Basically, this is a bit of a curate's egg. I walked it from Malmesbury. I cheated by starting from the Station Car Park (Long Stay) and didn't walk back up to the 'official start' just to walk down the hill again. Out of the car park, left at the Co-op and over the bridge, first right down Park Road, then keep right down Park Road parallel to the river. This actually gets you out in the countryside quicker than the TetMal One route.
Watch out for the wildlife as you leave the road to follow the footpath (see photo).
I began to have issues with the route when I reached the farm; there was a lack of signage, and a lack of clear footpaths. Then after that I have to admit I wasn't enamoured with the route though Estcourt Park. There was so much dog-legging and so many gates to open and close that it detracted from any enjoyment I might have got from a nice stroll. And each gate was fastened by a double-latch system, like a child safety catch on kitchen cupboards. Overall, I'm giving it 3 stars; You need to have a good map (backed up by a maps app on your phone?) to make sure you are following the route. There are a few stiles that will make it awkward if you have a buggy or wheelchair. But it's quite short, which allows you to easily do 'there and back' in a day. There's nowhere right on route to stop for lunch, but that's not really necessary; however, if you wanted you could always do a mini-detour to the pub in Brokenborough. I've also offered the option of two variations on this route, each progressively longer.
