Description
This walk is similar to tavpri(one), but avoids the long road section along the B3357. It does include crossing open moorland, so some navigation skills are required. There are no marked trails. The changes are between Merrvale and Princetown where the route goes up and over King's Tor. There is a vehicle track between from King's Tor and Princetown. Merryvale to Kings Tor and visa versa requires navigation skills

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

04 Sep 2024I enjoyed this route and found no problems with it - albeit I did walk it in clear visibility. I think it to be a good option if you are prepared to cross open moorland, rather than take the long road walk. Like tavpri(1) there is a good refreshment option in Merryvale. The Dartmoor Inn.
