05 Oct 2023I started at Sunbury (Tesco) having got the 216 bus from Kingston. Access to the south side of the station was via the roundabout subways and Green Lane to Downside (avoiding the station footbridge). There were mainly quiet residential roads to Lower Sunbury. The footpath alongside Sunbury Court was fine but I imagine that it's muddy after rain. A little annoying that the pavement in Lower Hampton Road swaps sides a couple of times. There are occasional views of the Thames (e.g. at private footbridge to Platt's Eyot. There are interesting buildings in Hampton Village including Garrick's Temple and seats alongside the river. Pedestrian lights to cross Hampton Court Road before entering Bushy Park by gate. The gates are currently locked between 8am and 10:30pm. A lovely part of the walk through the trees. There's a café just north of the Diana Fountain and toilets en route next to the children's playground. At the Kingston end there are cafés in Church Grove and across the bridge in All Saints Church. There are toilets in John Lewis and the Bentall Centre (2nd floor). Note that Cromwell Road Bus Station is closed until Summer 2024 for rebuilding and bus stops have been moved (https://tfl.gov.uk/travel-information/improvements-and-projects/kingston-cromwell-road-bus-station).

25 Jul 2023Agree with Stryder. I walked Kingston to Sunbury, it starts well but for those on wheels, it would soon become a bit of a nightmare around Hampton Waterworks where the footway narrows significantly; see photos. Bushy Park is lovely though and the walk has interesting views at times over the river at Hampton. I didn't stop and did it in 1h 45 mins. Yes, I would walk it again if needing to go to Staines or thereabouts. The route is safe and accurate but not suitable for wheelchairs as sections are narrow or overgrown.

16 May 2023Direct no-nonsense route, well drawn.
Walked Sunbury to Kingston. The first half is residential streets and a long stretch on a B road, pavements and trees make this section tolerable. After refreshments at the Jolly Coopers in Hampton the second half through Bushy Park went very well.
Steps at Sunbury, some narrow pavements and gates. Good refreshments at half way marked.

13 May 2023I walked from Kingston to Sunbury
3½ stars really as to good bits are very good but the rest is average.
From Kingston station there is a short walk though a shopping area to the bridge across the Thames across some busy roads then into Bushey Park. It was good to see the deer quite close up, the jackdaws will also come close but loose interest if you have no food. A lovely walk along a lime tree avenue, this is a beautiful park. Exiting onto the busy A308 Thames Street with some interesting houses then down the quieter Lower Hampton Road past waterworks. This is a long road and unfortunately the pavement narrows regularly so you have to cross from one side to the other several times, annoying, but not difficult. There is then a narrow muddy path by a ditch, followed by suburban streets to the station at Sunbury.
The Shepperton platform side is where you approach but the London platform is over a stepped footbridge.
A wheel friendly route is easily done by avoiding the muddy path along the parallel French Street; and accessing the station (shops and busses) from the other side via the roundabout underpass then along the A308 Staines Road for a short distance.
A good, flat, direct, easy to navigate route with Bushey Park the highlight.

17 Nov 2021A easy flat walk with a poor section along drainage ditch next to Sunbury Court. Some gravel paths in Busy Park and the access gates are heavy to open. One busy zebra crossing close to Kingston Bridge. Some short sections of narrow paths.
