Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

01 Jun 2025A marvellous stroll across the Warwickshire Hills. I started from Stratford, where the route follows the River Avon to the edge of town. There's a climb on to the hills and the views from the top are stunning and they continue to be as you follow a ridge. As you get nearer to Warwick there is an increased amount of road walking, which requires caution and isn't so enjoyable. Crossing the A429 wasn't dangerous, there is a good view in either direction but it required a lot of patience to catch a break in the Saturday morning traffic. I wondered about continuing along the Stratford Road into Warwick (which would have been much more direct) but followed the directions of Strwar 3 to take the dogleg through Tournament Fields, a business and housing estate. It's an extra kilometre I probably could have managed without, but had I been walking through about an hour later, I might have stopped for a drink at Ale Hub. Overall, this pretty good as Slow Ways go, the views are good, the paths were all in good condition and road walks were unavoidable. I know from other Slow Ways into Warwick how problematic an approach from the west is. Lots of countryside, lots of places to stop (although sadly not in the middle). No delinquent farmers although there were two very noisy dogs loose at Lower House Farm. Four stars!.
