22 Oct 2022I walked from Street to Somerton and this is largely a clear and easy route. There was just a small plotting error just south of Street at Ivy Thorn Hill. The route follows a public footpath across a road, then leaves the footpath to head east before joining Pages Hill Lane. This route isn't possible without a machete after crossing the road as there is no path, despite what the OS maps say. Instead, once at Ivy Thorn Hill don't cross the road, but follow a path through the woodland heading east parallel to the road. This takes you safely to the junction with Pages Hill Lane. My first picture is this section on the map with the route in red. The path is a dotted black line.
Just after that, there is another section where the route deviates from the OS map footpath, but in this case the path is where the Slow Ways Route says it is, not the OS map.
The rest of the route is easy to follow, with a mix of farmland and lane walking. Most of it is flat, but with local landmarks such as the Admiral Hood Monument, Combe Hill Woods, Dundon Hill and Lollover Hill poking up out of the Levels.
Plenty of facilities at the beginning and end of the walk, but nothing between the 2 towns.

10 Jun 2021This slightly revised route is a good walk from Street to Somerton, on foot only due to a number of styles & a flight of steps. It’s mostly off road with a nice section over the levels then through Compton Dundon and beyond through fields to Somerton.

28 May 2021This route is different to Strsom1 because a section of that was un-walkable (no path plus brambles) but the new route is nearby and easy to find. It is a pleasant walk following easy paths out of street, over Ivythorn Hill and then level walking across fields to Somerton. Some stiles and a set of steps.
