Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

08 Aug 2024Completed this in March 24. Not a bad way to get from Halesowen to Stourbridge. A bit of countryside before street walking through housing estates. Stevens Park takes you back to nature before hitting the many refreshment options of Stourbridge.

18 May 2024Another good Slow Ways route easy to follow linking Stourbridge and Halesowen through nice Countryside with good views in the middle rural section.

11 Jul 2022Walked this with David Sanderson and concur completely with his review. It's a very pleasant route but sadly, because of some short, very uneven sections, not one for anyone using wheels and anyone having mobility issues would need to take particular care.

10 Jul 2022A really enjoyable urban walk with an surprisingly rural section midway. We started from Halesowen where the route whisks you uphill and out of the centre. A short pleasant suburban section connects to a greenway which leads you to the edge of the town. The next section is a series of well marked paths through countryside. Some of the sections are narrow, and often the ground is very uneven. Combined with at least one stile, this is not a wheeler friendly route. The landscape to the west of Halesowen is rich with birdsong and butterflies. Having reached the edge of Stourbridge, the route goes through the delightful Stevens Park. It's quite a high point which has great views of the surrounding Black Country towns and distant hills of Shropshire beyond. A series of roads bring you to Stourbridge Junction Railway Station and the Seven Stars Pub (recommended). The last section is via a footpath which you join in a residential area, after which it takes you under the railway and eventually to the meeting place outside the Bus Station and Stourbridge Town Railway Station. A safe, direct, mostly offroad Slow Way featuring some splendid countryside and with pubs and transport links. Full marks!.
