Description

I think this is a better route than the current Stebuc one because it avoids the section of road walking, is easier to navigate and has fewer stiles. The dismantled railway in Buckingham is not marked as a footpath on the OS map but is a well established and signposted route maintained by the local council

Surveys

We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.

Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

I’d definitely walk this one again, especially in better weather! It has been raining and so some of the paths were spectacularly muddy and slippery. One for doing in boots rather than trainers unless at the height of summer.

There’s one bit where there are no waymarkers (near Lenborough) and it’s not immediately clear where the path goes as on the map it’s hard to tell which side of the hedge it’s on - the attached photos show the gate you should go through from both SC and Buckingham sides. There was also a broken stile just on the approach to Hillesden from SC - I had to climb over a gate instead.

Pleasant open countryside. Easy to navigate and mostly gates rather than stiles until you get near to Steeple Claydon. Several fields have inquisitive cattle in at times.
