Description

Was surprised to find that the only route stdnew1 (that was snailed) has just 3 stars. This is a walk in Pembrokeshire some of the most stunning coastline in Wales !?

How come its just 3 stars ?? Well it's in land for starters - which was a surprise.

This variation uses the Wales Coast path as much as possible

Surveys

We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.

Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

Walked as part of the National Parks Challenge 2026. The route is a delight. And so too is Solva. Give the Ship Inn your business.

Wonderful walk along the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, with endless views and choughs flying around some of the cliffs. I absolutely loved it and would definitely do it again.

I walked the route in two halves on two different days as it was a hot August week and nice to get a shorter morning walk in before the temperatures soared, but you could make a good day of it, stopping at little beaches or coves along the way. The route has the usual rocky coast path feature of some steep and steppy ups and downs into the stream gulleys - more of these on the section between Solva and Newgale - but also lots of easy walking on flat or gently undulating paths along the clifftops too. Bear in mind that occasionally the cliff edge is within a few metres of the path and much of the route is very exposed if there is wind and weather but on a good day it is just a delight.

Easy to navigate, access all by gates and the coast path is a popular trail in the summer season. I met plenty of people along the way but had much lone, quiet enjoyment too. As the previous reviewer mentioned, Solva is a good refreshment stop. I used the Puffin Shuttle minibus on one day to get back and forth. There are no obviously marked bus stops in Newgale that I could see but I just stood roughly where my bus app said the stop should be and waved and that worked fine.

Most of the photos on this review were taken looking towards to St Davids.

Coast path is a much more enjoyable alternative between these two locations. Takes in Solva which has good cafes.
