Surveys

We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.

Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

This route follows an obvious path and track out of Laugharne that people already use regularly to walk from the Dylan Coastal Resort to Dylan Thomas's grave. Continuing onwards up a quiet road the route links with the Wales Coast Path, which offers an alternative route out of Laugharne. Either way, the route running onwards to St Clears is the same as the Wales Coast Path, and much of it runs parallel to a road. The route to the beginning of St Clears is fine, but I don't like the last part. I walked it in November and the paths are just too muddy and it lacks signposts and waymarks. As for crossing the dual carriageway road at the end, it's too busy to do safely. The last part is easily improved by following a riverside path and cycleway. It's all off road and it passes safely beneath the dual carriageway. There's only one problem - the cycleway can flood and there are gates that might be locked at either end when this happens.
