Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

12 May 2022Its quiet nice, a few stiles once out of Nene Park. A bridge has been knocked down along the side of the Nene which means a bit of a detour near the rowing lake and a bit of back tracking if starting in Peterborough.

07 Jun 2021Scenic route with mixed terrain, almost all off-road and just a couple of spots where you have to take care with traffic. Mainly flat.
Out of Peterborough city centre within a mile, the next three or four miles are along the river and through Nene Park. Between the villages of Ailsworth and Sutton, you have about 1km along the side of the road without a path. Not too busy but you will probably have to step aside for traffic a few times.
After rejoining the river for a bit, you have to cross what could be a busy, 60mph road. We were lucky in not having to wait for traffic at all, though.
If there is any part of the route that could be difficult to navigate it would be the bit after Sacrewell Farm. We went the wrong way around a field here.
Then when you are on the (marked) Hereward Way, you will need to take care with navigation to avoid going on to the street at Southorpe. The roads are quiet but not part of the route.
You will be off-road again through Burghley Park and then on to the street for a short while in Stamford.
The only eating places I recall (apart from at either end in the town/city were at Castor/Ailsworth, where there are a couple of pubs and a coffee shop).
