Surveys

We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.

Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

I travelled to Rugby by train and then taxi to the church at Stanford on Avon - public transport is limited and includes a 40 minute walk to the start. The taxi driver wasn't terribly sure where we were going so perhaps a postcode would have been helpful.

It is a very enjoyable route, shared with the Shakespeare's Avon Way and Jurassic Way - the sign posting is missing on occasion, so be aware - and crossing the Grand Union Canal. Food is available at the Post Office in Welford. There are some interesting houses beyond Welford Reservoir including a lovely barn conversion and two Scandinavian-looking properties.

The route marking is straightforward with the usual care required to follow the routes on the map rather than the SW mapping tool. On the approach to Market Harborough, the diagonal path to and leading from The Dales on Marston Trussell Road does not exist. Instead I followed the Jurassic Way to join the Road and then the route.
