Surveys

We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.

Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

I walked this route from Stakeford to Blyth on a sunnyish afternoon in late November. it begins walking through the streets of the town. The countryside opens up a bit as you go through the village of Bomarsund. you ate still walking through urban streets until you get to the outskirts of Bedlington Station.
On the approach to the bridge across the River Blyth you join the England Coast Path. you are following this to your destination and its well signed. from the bridge you are following the banks of the tidal River Blyth which is really nice. Once closer to the town centre you are back on streets again. I think this a good route. it is generally accessible apart from steps from bridge to River Bank. it would be worth looking at a suitable diversion for those who can't manage steps.
