Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

17 Apr 2023Lovely along the canal then it all goes pear shaped.
Poor footpaths, if any, and few to no signs.
Deep mud & silage, fields ploughed to the edges, beware of dog signs but no indication of where to walk.
There are probably re route options to enable walking this way, but the landowners/farmers shouldn't be allowed to make walking this way so difficult/frustrating for people.

14 May 2021I thought this walk was ok but there were a few tricky parts which could cause some confusion though. After you leave the canal (bridge 66) and drop down to cross the river Douglas the footpath is straight ahead as you leave the foot bridge ( ///compelled.webcams.remaining see picture). This is quite a steep soil path and is quite slippery. Styles were clearly visible in all of the fields which crossed arable and pasture fields (which showed signs of cows and were quite muddy in places). The footpath seems to have been closed as it entered the farm at ///regulates.pulse.stowing, but that stile seems to have been relocated to ///speaking.clinked.redeeming. The footpath route is clear up until ///motivations.forks.sprayer. At this point the path seems to head into a yard but go to the fence line on the right and keep high as you pass by the yard. The footpath is clear until you reach Gorse Hall farm. The Slow Ways route takes you through the farm but the foot path on the OS map takes you to the right of the farm buildings at ///printouts.done.majoring. The foot path was boggy even in dry weather around ///football.parkland.dizzy but by keeping to the left of the stream I was able to avoid the worst of it.

02 May 2021Frustrating walk. Footpaths Non existent over much of the farm land/ old land fill sites. Eg, The route should have gone straight ahead but no option at this sign post. Impossible to keep to the slow ways route after the first mile or so. We walked 6 miles but that was only getting to the half way point of the route and then returning to our start point.
