Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

22 Mar 2023It’s true this route follows a single, somewhat busy road but I found it to be much more enjoyable than expected. At least on the day I walked it the traffic wasn’t too annoying and I was much more noticed on the surrounding fields. There were some nice surprises like the remains of an old chapel just off the path. Accessibility wise there were some points where the path was partially blocked by small branches and soil deposits- these might be difficult for a wheelchair user to cross. These were in the first couple miles after Teynham and there were a couple spots I noticed. I understand there is now a more scenic walk but if you prefer the slightly shorter distance, this route is absolutely fine. I personally will choose it next time, as it makes for a more feasible start to a Sittingbourne -> Canterbury route for someone of my level of fitness.

14 Jul 2022A mind numbingly dull route, made more mentally taxing by the traffic.
Undoubtedly the fastest route, but is no better than catching a bus.

08 Nov 2022I added a new route, mostly off road, to the south of SitFav 1. If you are local perhaps you could take a look?

05 Nov 2021Ok it would get you there but it's an unpleasant route to walk. Along a busy A-road for the most part with a pointless kink in the route as you go into Faversham. A better route would be to follow the railway line for the most part - Tonge Road, Lomas Road, Teynham Station, Deerton Street, Davington, Faversham Station. No pavement for most of it but a nice quiet road through fields and woodland.
