Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

19 Jun 2023I walked this in the Dulverton-Simonsbath direction.
This is a truly beautiful walk. It starts with a fairly steep climb out of Dulverton in a shaded wooded area before crossing fields and moorland before a steep decent to Tarr Steps. You then follow the river all the way to the village of Withypool where there is a pub. The route departs the river for a while before rejoining it close to Cow Castle. You then follow the river all the way to Simonsbath where there is another pub.
While there are a few buses at Dulverton, there is no public transport at Simonsbath ao alternative arrangements will need to be made to get back to the start point.
This route, along with Lynsim (Lynmouth to Simonsbath) are probably 2 of the prettiest Sloways in the area as you get to cross Exmoor form South-East to North-West.
There was one inaccuracy on the route where the footpath going down into Tarr Steps didn't seem to exist but there was another path right next to it that took you to the same place (see photo attached).
I highly recommend this route.
