Report

I walked from Lower Stondon to Shefford.
Agree with previous reviewers, a lovely enjoyable walk across open farmland, woods and villages. Very few roads.
Not suitable for wheels due to narrow, muddy, uneven parts.

Report

Was a good route, mostly on paths but some roads. One bit of road going into upper stondon there is no footpath and narrow verge. Although quietish cars go fairly fast. There is a slightly longer route via fishing pond along a track to the farm on edge of meppershall, to avoid that bit which we did on way back. But overall enjoyed it and think it is fine as route between the two points.

Whilst there is a fair amount of pavement and road walking this is a very enjoyable route passing through some lovely countryside. I walked from Lower Stondon to Shefford. On leaving Lower Stondon there is no pavement after All Saints church but the road is pretty quiet. The footpath leaving this road is overgrown and I couldn't see a sign post so it could be missed without a map. However after only a few meters the footpath reaches a field and is then good for the rest of the route. You also have to walk on the road on entering Meppershall where new housing has been built. This is a slightly busier road so take care. The views outside Meppershall at Polehanger farm are particularly good. The underpass to Shefford can get a little flooded after heavy rain but otherwise is fine. The photos are - the footpath leaving the road outside Lower Stondon, footpaths in the countryside, the underpass leading to Shefford.

A nice mix of walking through villages and across open fields. Care is needed on the roads where there is no pavement as there are several bends.
