Description

This is an excellent and safer route that replaces an earlier Slow Way that involved a short stretch of walking on a busy road with no pavement. The diversion takes the walker on The Trans Pennine Trail on Burn Airfield with great views, a good walking surface and interpretation boards to enjoy. The rest of the route has peaceful canal side walking as well as pleasant open countryside. It is definitely 5 STARS

Surveys

We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.

Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

I prefered this route to SelSna One as it avoided a busy road. This route follows the path across Burn Airfield with interesting information boards and posts. There is also a chance to see gliders landing and taking off, weather permitting. This is a very flat and safe route and would certainly recommend it.

I walked and reviewed SELSNA ONE previously. On 4th July I walked the newly created diversion section which uses a section of The Trans Pennine Trail over Burn Airfield. This diversion has been created to avoid a dangerous section of roadside walking near Burn.
I was impressed with the work that has been done on the old airfield with benches and information boards. This diversion makes the Selby to Snaith walk much safer and I found it a pleasant and interesting walk and I am rating SELSNA TWO with 5 Stars.

A safe and enjoyable walk. Just a short stretch of busy road leads to a path down to the canal towpath. This is followed by an easy connection to Burn Airfield with a good walking surface and interpretation boards to study. After which it is open countryside, lanes a tracks, with just a short stretch of roadside walking(no pavement) on s straight section of Hirst Road. A Flood Bank follows which leads to a bridge over the River Aire and a short pavement stroll into Snaith. I would walk it again and recommend it.
