Great route to walk! All the paths are well kept and the hills aren't too bad! All well signposted and lots of pubs and cafes to choose from when we arrived in Alfriston.

I walked from Polegate (via Polalf1) to Alfriston to Seaford, on a very sunny June day.

This is defintely the more functional route between Alfriston and Seaford, avoiding the Cuckmere valley completely but it's still a lovely walk.

I agree with the previous review that the wiggle through the back of Alfriston is probably unecessary but it's not a huge issue. The path was a little overgrown in places, particularly on the long slow climb up past "The Ralls". On the edge of the wine estate, don't follow their trail like I did, the bridlepath takes the less obvious route through the trees. Once you climb up back to the top of the hill (unwelcome on a hot day like today!) take care to make sure you're on the right path at the 6-way junction. Path then goes through a golf course, including a crossing where there is a bell provided to warn golfers of your presence. Firle Road has no pavement but the road is wide and quiet so this isn't an issue.

Polegate to Seaford via Alfriston 24/10/2021 Leg Two SEAALF.

We decided to take the shortest SEAALF Slow Way option, and even though it doesn’t go via the iconic Cuckmere Valley, it is still a lovely walk. The cut through the twittens at the start behind the main street in Alfriston is a little confusing and a bit unnecessary as the main street through the village is so attractive.

From Deans Place Hotel, a bridleway leads up onto the Downs past a campsite to the right. At the top of the hill, the path levels out and the views open up and are really lovely. The route then heads down into the Rathfinny wine estate, past the vineyards and some plots sown with sunflowers and red poppies – very attractive. Out of the valley there is a short, fairly stiff climb to the Comp track, then almost immediately starts the descent down to Seaford through the golf course. Then following Firle Road past large houses to the church at East Blatchington. The final section is a series of twittens leading straight to the railway station and town centre.

An easy route to follow, a few gates but no stiles. It is fairly short (5 miles) but there are no stops for services along the way.
