Surveys

We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.

Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

As per previous reviews. The route has been re-routed around the quarry, but the path is clearly marked with waymarkers. A very enjoyable walk mainly over fields/bridlepaths. Numerous stiles involved with only minimal road walking on minor roads.

Went from Congleton to Sandbach

A pleasant route in the whole with mainly traffic free track

Slight issue at arclid Quarry where the footpath has been diverted. I walked through the Quarry and towards the Chimney House hotel which added a bit but wasn't unpleasant.

There is a point where, having skirted the Arclid sand quarry, you reach an agricultural building not marked on the map. It used to be the hanger for the micro lights that flew from there. The footpath has been diverted right, in front of the building. Carry on up the bridleway until the first footpath sign on the left. The new path route takes you round the edge of two fields. It crosses a farm track and continues until you find a stile on the right. You are then back on track. Other than this, we managed to follow the track. Much walking across fields that could be muddy in wet weather. Very attractive, peaceful, rural walk.
