22 Jun 2022 Summer

A pleasant enough route with some nice scenery, particularly between Bramcote and Stapleford. My only real concern is the number of steps on the section between Stapleford and the Erewash Canal, where both the bridge over the river Erewash and the higher bridge over the railway have steps on both sides and are not suitable for wheelchairs or cycles.

20 May 2022 Spring

TURN ON PHOTO LAYER TO VIEW LOCATIONS.

I walked from Sandiacre to Beeston on a sunny morning in late Spring.

This is the best of the Sanbee routes. Crossing the road from the Co-Op meeting point and I was on the Canal path heading to Ilkeston and Stapleford. Although a short stretch, I walked past two nice bridges crossing the canal (I do love a nice bridge!).

At the second canal bridge, I crossed the railway bridge and followed the Ilkbee route into Stapleford. The route took me up the hill through the cemetery and across the Ridgeway, walking between wheat fields.

And so onto Common Lane; I met no cars at any point until I had to nip across Chilwell Lane and onto the path past the golf course and into Beeston. I finally walked into residential streets for the last 1/2 mile to get to Beeston Market Square and the tram stop.

There has been no serious rain for some weeks and all paths were dry.

27 Feb 2022 Winter

I completed this route walking from Beeston to Sandiacre in February. There had been wet weather in the week before my journey. The section from the 'Brian Clough Way' to Stapleford was the only very muddy section. There are steps by the Brian Clough way crossing, and steeply onto the railway bridge west of Stapleford. I found it to be a lovely walk with the urban sections on quiet roads with pavements.
