Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

10 Sep 2024I walked this route on 7-8th of July'24. This is an easy route to follow 50% on forrest tracks before opening out into open countryside after Craik. However there is nowhere along this route to eat or sleep thus would fail criteria no 6. I wild camped 17 miles in and completed the final 8.4 miles the next day. I live locally in Langholm and there is a service bus that runs up Eskdalemuir in the morning and of course a bus serive from Hawick.
Since my walk I have implimented changes to Roman Reviers Route in openstreetmap to which I contribute.
I also note these changes to Samhaw one route as below in outdooractive from which you can download a gpx file.

15 Sep 2024Hello George,
Thank you for reviewing this route which I drew 3 years ago. I'm not familiar with this area, but I must have drawn the route to follow the Romans and Reivers Route which is on OS mapping, and may have changed slightly since (or I mapped it incorrectly). The route you drew in Outdooractive is slightly, but not substantially different. Please submit this to Slowways as a 'better route' if you feel the changes are worth adding to Slowways. We can then ask Slowways admin to delete the original route so it is not confusing for any users.
Is the Romans and Reivers Route waymarked/signposted and therefore very easy to follow without regular reference to a map?
