Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

13 Jun 2021DO NOT USE! I walked this Slow Way so you don't have to! The first section leaves Rugeley via a lane that cars use rather than a more direct footpath that gets you to the same spot. The next section was usable but a new road and the diversion of a footpath throws the route into confusion in Hill Ridware. At Pipe Ridware, rather than continuing straight on with the Way for the Millennium the route diverts north. This was the worst section by far including a walk across a field marked "bull in field". I proceeded with caution to discover no bull but instead a herd of some of the most aggressive cows I've encountered. Having reached the other end the stile was completely overgrown with briars and brambles. I took a risk and managed to cross by balancing on/over this overgrowth. By this stage I had reported so many broken/overgrown stiles using the Ramblers App that my phone battery was actually getting low. The stiles and hedges didn't improve until the other side of Hamstall Ridware. The mark up of the last section heading in to Yoxall was the worst of all. Directing you up a lane and then through a non-existent gap to then join a footpath which will take you back to the lane you would have been on had you not been directed up the first lane. Poorly conceived, poorly plotted, poorly maintained. I will shortly submit a safe walkable version of this route but will also produce a safer, more direct, easier to follow route which I think will be the better option to follow.
