02 Jun 2022Route through Houlton and Crick. Note that Houlton is a new town and some of the paths and roads are not yet open. So, you will need to take a slightly different route through the town. From the first roundabout you encounter, instead of taking a north route 'over' the town, take a right onto Station Avenue, then a left onto Maine Street. Then turn right by the kids play area onto Dollman Road, to get you onto the Crick Road.
From Rugby to Crick, the route is mostly on decent paths with no major obstacles. However, there are a number of stiles, kissing gates and footbridges on the section between Crick and West Haddon. Some parts of the route between Crick and West Haddon are very, very narrow, because the landowners have built fences right next to the hedgerows, leaving little room to walk.
An alternative route between Crick and West Haddon would be to use the footpath that starts near the Crick Garden Centre. You than then either take the backroads into West Haddon, or join the footpath featured in this route halfway along, avoiding the narrowest sections.
