Description
Between Lamberhurst and Tunbridge Wells there is a huge area of land with no public access at all, near (very roughly) Bayham Abbey. This route has to loop round to the south, and sometimes is along roads, about 60%, which is unavoidable. Mostly quieter looking lanes, not the B2169 (Bayham Rd) or the (far far worse) A21. There might be occasional bad sight lines etc on the lanes, apparently typical in the area, hopefully this route is quiet at least. The B2169 crossing at the Ivy Lane junction TQ 6157 3599 isn't ideal, but there are wide verges and it's fairly straight. The other crossing near Lamberhurst (TQ 667 356) looks great.
It's probably pretty steep in places. Kent Council's footpath maps show stiles, gates and steps. One stream crossing is a ford (TQ 6020 3792).
You could break the journey early by diverting to Frant train station (which is in Bells Yew Green not Frant) where there is also a pub, best way non-private-road way might be from TQ 6127 3653 using Hawkenbury Lane, round trip adds 1km.
There are a few bus services which might be infrequent. And another pub at Hook Green but would adds a lot of distance and/or road walking.
Roylam 1 (now deleted) went across that large area of private land, and the first reviewer had to divert a lot, although she enjoyed other parts of the route. Hopefully she would enjoy this one too

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
