Description
I have made an alternative to the unwalkable Romlor 1 using Test Way, as without additional on the ground knowledge, the Eastern route options seemed limited.
Only bits that might be tricky - small section of verge/ behind the armco walking at Station Rd.
Possible footpath diversion/ closure at Redbridge Ln near Cedars School. Looks open but plenty of development off that route which might mess with the footpaths. Hopefully not with the Ordnance Survey Headquarters so near! Alternative is going via the footpath to the East of the Ordnance Survey buildings through the Hillyfields estate that leads into Redbridge Lane but about 500m south west of the original route on the same road. Needs on the ground testing.
Hopefully a good alternative to test. Tried to find a solution to the east but no luck. 12.8km so an increase of 3km on the original, but now at least walkable *I hope*!

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

13 Aug 2024Nice start in Romsey. Plenty of stops for a coffee is you are heading off early.
Once over the river Test the path is a little narrow along side the A3090, but it's only a very short distance.
Following the Test Way is a nice country walk through Broadlands. We walked with dogs and needed to be careful of the electric fences that were up during summer.
As you get back to river Test there's some good paddling opportunities for the dogs. Things get a little more urban once on the other side of the M27 and into Nursling.
Overall a pleasant enough and accurate route between Romsey and Lordshill.

12 Aug 2024Easy to navigate and crosses through some very beautiful parts. Watch out for cyclists tho.

04 Aug 2024 (edited 13 Aug 2024)Some lovely bits along the Test Way with a water stop where the dogs could have a paddle. The road walking was limited to quieter roads.
