Surveys

We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.

Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

Nice walk with panoramic views, river paths, a monolithic burial chamber.

We didn't find the first turn off the road after crossing the M2 so followed the path to the left side of Big Motoring World, which joined the same path.

The footpath joins the Cobtree Golf Course, where the path across two fairways is not marked and there are no warning signs to tell you to look out as you cross (there are some elsewhere).

Directly after crossing the M20 on the Forstal Road bridge, the route takes you off on two sides of a triangle, but you can continue straight to miss that part out.

There is a coffee bar (The Little Old Coal House) at Allington Lock.

When arriving in Maidstone the route shows to leave the river and cross the road to Faith Street but there is no exit point from the river there and the road crossing is further down, opposite Earl Street.

Route was reasonably safe and direct and there were ample opportunities to get the 101 bus back towards Rochester.
