I walked this on a warm and sunny Saturday morning, from Chiswick to Richmond.

From Turnham Green station, it is along and across Chiswick High Street (photo #1) before walking along Park Road (photo #2), which goes along Chiswick House and Gardens. I cheated, and went through the park for about half the length. Both the park, and Park Road are good going, and pleasant. After crossing the railway at Chiswick station (photo #3), the route then crosses Chiswick Bridge (photo #4), before continuing along residential streets into Richmond (photo #5, #6, #7), trying to escape the bigger and busier roads.

This is a route I made as an 'open all hours' fully lit route, which is safe to walk/wheel all day/night.
It's a response to Ricchi One, which is an excellent route but passes through various parks which close at dusk, and also has several flights of stairs. So it's a similar route but with more thought given to accessibility.
Leaving Richmond by the Sheen Road, it uses back streets where possible to avoid the main road. Cross the railway at North Sheen station (level crossing) and head past the old Mortlake Brewery towards Chiswick Bridge. The old brewery complex is currently subject to a controversial planning application, eventually this area will be redeveloped.
Chiswick Bridge has a wide pavement, and it's a pretty good river crossing for pedestrians, great views of the Thames - this is the best place to watch the Boat Race finish. On the Chiswick side of the bridge the pavement narrows: it's only a short section, c 100m, but it's shared with cyclists, and they can go pretty fast as they come downhill off the bridge. Some 'ting' their bells when coming from behind, but not all, which I found a bit nerve wracking. This was the only part of the route where I didn't feel totally safe, extra awareness and caution is needed.
The route then heads away from the busy main road. It crosses the railway on a road bridge, rather than using the stairs at Chiswick Station (the Ricchi One option). There's a small arcade of shops for anyone needing refreshment top ups.
Although the route doesn't go through Chiswick House gardens, it passes an entrance, and I highly recommend detouring to visit the gardens and cafe when open.
The end of the route at Turnham Green station is very pleasant, good transport links and cafes.
