Description
Mostly the same as Reiban One but a shorter route out of Reigate along Pilgrims Way and missing out the road walk to Kingswood Station by using footpaths. Does involve one railway crossing. General Store in Buckland Road, Lower Kingswood. Wellhouse Pub on route (about halfway). Toilets in Reigate opposite Bancroft Road or in Morrisons and Waitrose, Banstead. Shops and cafes in Banstead High Street. Climb to Colley Hill is very steep. Some rough tracks and slightly overgrown paths. Not suitable for pushchairs etc

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

29 May 2023 (edited 05 Jun 2023)Great walk. Good improvement on ReiBan 1. The climb up Colley Hill was the highlight, not just for the views but also lovely chalkland plants. It was very green and peaceful elsewhere, mosty on paths and tracks through fields and woods and a few alleyways.
At Pilgrims Way I walked on the short, parallel wooded path running beside. The road through Lower Kingswood was very quiet. There were a few busier roads to cross along the way, but not to walk along, otherwise I barely saw any traffic.
The northern half follows the (Reigate and Banstead) Millennium Trail which has good white and blue waymarks, simple to navigate. At the point where that trail route joins this route (south of Mugswell) it also joins BanRed 1 and BanRed 2 Slow Ways from Redhill. They, and ReiBan 1, all take different wayy through (upper) Kingswood but this route takes the greenest and most direct approach and passes the 'sports field' by the Legal and General building that's been allowed to develop into a wildflower meadow.
There were several places to buy supplies along the rest of the way plus the Well House Inn on Chipstead Rd so I didn't miss going into Kingswood. But, had I needed a train, the relevant bits from BanRed 2 looks best.
The most extreme access issue is the path up the North Downs escarpment at Colley Hill. It's *very steep* and deeply gullied. There are steps, stiles, uneven surfaces, gates, etc elsewhere.
If you plan to eat at Banstead it's worth staying on the Millennium Trail instead of leaving at Holly Lane. It comes out at the Waitrose end of the High Street where, strangely, the few places to eat that aren't Italian/pizza are clustered. I had good food and excellent service at The Woolpack. There are public toilets in the church carpark.

24 Jun 2022Lovely views from Colley Hill. Good countryside walk. M25 noise not too obtrusive. Distance shorter than Reiban One because road walk past Kingswood Station is omitted. Much of route follows the Reigate and Banstead Millennium Walk and is sign posted.
