05 Mar 2022This is a great choice of route, a pragmatic selection for getting there quickly, decent scenery and quiet roads. I disagree with other peoples opinions that its not the prettiest route, there aren't any real improvements you can make without walking miles for the sake of it.

26 Oct 2021The route is not the most scenic overall, but has some nice sections and it's very easy to extend further along the river (it connects to the Thames Path) or explore nearby areas. Also very easy to extend around alternative streets in the urban areas if you wish.
Mostly paved, a short section of grassy trail just beyond Wokingham Watersports Centre but it's easy to use the adjacent road if needed (go through the Watersport Centre car park).
Following this specific route may take you up & down some steps for a bridge across the canal (River Kennet) near Reading town centre. If you need step-free access, there are alternative crossings very close by which are step-free, for example Duke Street which has a slope down to the canal-side path.
At the Woodley end of this section, I highly recommend visiting the nearby Woodley South Lake, a short extension to the route.

03 Aug 2021A mostly car free and surprisingly green route using the riverside paths along the Kennet and Thames. It starts from Reading Station and passes Reading Museum and the historic Abbey Quarter before an interesting urban walk beside the Kennet and Avon canal, past Blake's Lock before joining the Thames Path at Kennetmouth. There is a pleasant walk through Thames Valley Park before a more suburban and less interesting section, mostly on residential streets through Earley and Woodley, before finishing at the small pedestrianised Woodley town centre.

21 Jul 2021 (edited 23 Jun 2022)Reading to Woodley (Reawoo 1) review.
This straightforward walk has little interest, in my opinion, beyond providing a link between the Slow Ways nodes of Reading and Woodley. The short stretch of Thames Path is pleasant but would be enjoyed more as part of a walk into Sonning or Henley.
The route from Reading Station follows the Kennet side to the Thames. See the Reading to Twyford (Reatwy 1) route for an alternate path which takes in Forbury Gardens and the abbey ruins.
Once the route leaves the Thames Path it is street walking the rest of the way into Woodley. These are paved roads with the exception of a footpath by Bulmerche Park (Photo 1).
The route ends at a car park with bus stops and plenty of amenities at the nearby Woodley shopping precinct.
