Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

11 Jul 2022Review for the section Rampton -> Sturton-le-Steeple
The majority of this route follows the bank of a drainage dyke along the sides of various fields, mainly arable, and appears to be maintained.
There were a few changes where the route shown doesn't match what is on the ground, most significantly near the start as the path leaves Rampton. There is now a Glamping Site next to Sundown Adventure Land. Alongside the car park for Sundown the path is now gated beyond which is now a crazy golf course for the glamping site. I chose to climb the gate into Sundown car park, then follow round to the exit where you can pick up the path behind the glamping site reception/cafe.
Almost immediately after this, there is another slight error in the route shown. Once onto the main highway (Cottam Road) the path suggests going through the garden of a cottage. There is no fingerpost to suggest a RoW, and looking back at where this should have joined the drain path, there is no evidence of any path usage. Instead, continue slightly further (west) along to Green Lane where the road crosses the drain and there is a signed entrance to the footpath.
The other main deviation I took was outside South Leverton, just south of where the path would cross the railway (now disused) to Cottam Power Station. The field was in use by young bulls, so I followed the road slightly east to a level crossing where you can pick up a byway that rejoins the path at Magpie Lane Farm, although it seems the bank path is blocked here by a derelict outbuilding - perhaps the mower can't safely pass it - so walkers should continue along Magpie Lane and rejoin the footpath just outside North Leverton.
As mentioned the majority of the path is field-side grass, which was mown when I walked it, though there are plenty of stiles/ and kissing gates along the way, so it shouldn't present any difficulty to walkers of any ability, but would be unusable by anyone on wheels.
I'll upload a corrected GPX once I've walked the section around West Burton Power Station.
