Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

04 Mar 2025 (edited 08 Mar 2025)This route partially overlaps with PyeWoo 1. There is one part which is inaccessible if you walk eastward. It's through a small woodland west of Lower Standean, entrance at ///rules.minder.grapes
It's effectively a dead end that wastes 300m and hunting for path time. The route (in purple on my map) is now outside the north boundary of the wood along a farm track. There is a wooden marker post there where you would go into the wood coming the other way but hard to see in the vegetation and you'd probably not need it, the way is pretty obvious. Oddly the route through the woods is still on both Ordnance Survey and West Sussex's online map (bridleway 19Py).
The countryside is very beautiful along the overlap though, hence 4 stars as a compromise.
Also I was told by locals I met that the church in Pyecombe is worth visiting and you can get a coffee there. If you get the bus in Pyecombe be sure where your stops is. E.g yhe "Garage" stop is next to the BP and not where the word Garage appears on OS Explorer maps. I was also told that most bus drivers do not stop at the "Saddlery" stop for route 17 as it is dangerous although I think they may have meant the flyover stop, which is immediately before the turning to Hassocks.
