Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

20 Aug 2024This route was difficult to follow on tge app because it was overlaid with otger routes. Therefore I walked up Putney Hill rather than through the park path. On hiiting the underpass the paths were lovely and onto the common. I followed the route but ended up on a footpath and had a lovely walk but not easy to follow across open ground. A straight forward walk to the village to the station. The path needs to be clearly mapped on the app. Photo 1 is where the path goes left into the trees and I lost the path.

28 Nov 2021Overall this is a very good route between Putney and Wimbledon. However, I found it to be badly drawn at the north side of Wimbledon Common, where it heads across country through woodland with no path. I found it impossible to follow this part of the walk, and for this reason I don't feel I can verify this route, although its a very short stretch and the rest of it is fine.
I've made a new version, Putwim Two, with a few alterations to correct the routing error, and to make the route a little quieter in places. I recommend using Putwim Two.

27 Apr 2021To avoid the busy Wimbledon High Street and Wimbledon Hill Road, from Wimbledon War Memorial at south end of Common, follow round the edge of the common on The Green until you reach Southside Common. Cross road and go along Lingfield Road opposite until you reach Ridgway. Cross road and go along Oldfield Road opposite. After 100m, turn right along narrow alley to Sunnyside. Turn left along Sunnyside and down
alley at end, downhill to Malcolm Road. Continue downhill to Worple Road. Cross road and go along alley immediately opposite to St George's Road. Turn left and immediately right along Alt Grove to railway line. Turn left and follow footpath to Wimbledon Station.
