Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

03 Jun 2022This was a stunner! I walked this from Wendover to Princess Risborough on a sunny Friday morning. Out of Wendover this is a minute re-routing necessary due to HS2 (instead of crossing the railway on a bridge), to right out of the station and then right again. I think that would be in any case my preference.
Then it goes up the hill, and follows the Ridgeway for a nearly all the way to Princess Risborough, where you descend again. There are a few hills, and some bits that could be muddy in wetter weather, but there was no sign of it today. You also circle around the Chequers estate of which you get a good view. It is varied, with wood land, fields, and great views.

08 Mar 2022We walked this route from Wendover to Princes Risborough on a beautiful clear, sunny, February afternoon. The route is easy to follow, and as others have noted there are plenty of climbs and muddy sections, but the views from the edge of the Chiltern escarpment make it well worthwhile.

16 Nov 2021Quite a hilly part of The Ridgeway. Can be very muddy and slippery in places, especially the second half of it. Good farm shop/cafe just at half way. Good views of the Chequers estate, which the route crosses.

10 Jun 2021Absolutely beautiful walk, a lot of which follows the Ridgeway National Walking Route, passing over Coombe Hill - Stunning views!
Wonderful mix of woodland and open country walking. A few big climbs, but worth the views!.
