Description
Uses the later sections of Portbed1 but instead of going over the hills and using a hard to follow track it uses the more established Snowdonia Slate Trail to Aberglaslyn. It then follows the Welsh Highland Railway route for some of the route.
There are 3 very short sections on an A road - due to the lack of footpaths along the route.
Hopefully this should be easier to navigate

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

22 May 2026This worked for me. Walked as part of the National Parks Challenge 2026. There were two occasions when the path disappeared and I had to jump a few fences. There was also a field when lively calves blocked both the entrance and exit so more fence jumping entailed. A lovely walk along the river on the Snowdonia Slate Trail on a wonderfully well constructed path.
