Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

Just a short walk. Half of it is on the lanes and footpaths between Newbridge High Street and the dual carriageway by-pass road, the other half along the main road between Pentwynmawr and Pontllanfraith.
The first half is a nice alternative to the main road through Newbridge. It`s a bit of a maze of footpaths and lanes resulting from old railway lines / tram roads, etc., but takes you through a variety of scenery. After the short walk through the back streets of Newbridge, the footpath starts from Penrhiwbicca and runs parallel to the dual carriageway for a while (Photo 1). After this first waymark, there is not much in the way of signage to guide you, so a map is useful here. The path then runs through some woodland (Photo 2), fields and more woodland before emerging in a small car park (Photo 3), from which it`s just a short hop to the High Street at Pentwynmawr. From there, it`s a straightforward walk along the main road all the way to the cross roads at Pontllanfraith (Photo 4)
The first half is not really suitable for wheeling, but the second half from Pentwynmawr is on good standard pavements.
