Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

30 May 2022This route is one of two halves, the views are incredible as you climb to the top of Pontypridd and you see an abundance of animals along the way, however it’s not an easy route to follow. The route is very hilly, the paths are very overgrown (May 2022) and in places I would say not very safe. You pass through a few farms and it’s hard to navigate where to rejoin the route, the stiles are in poor condition and in places it’s very boggy. Would only advise for an experienced walker.

03 Jun 2021Church Village to Pontypridd walk reviewed 31 May 2021. The chosen route is the most beautiful route I could imagine but there are many areas which are difficult underfoot and the path in the area between Berthlwyd Bungalow and Forest Uchaf Farm is very difficult to follow. There are two very marshy sections, the more northerly of these is also very red with iron oxide run-off from mining and this chemical will damage light footwear. I suggest that it is only to be undertaken by an experienced trekker wearing good boots. I have proposed a less pretty but more practical route which I am trying to upload.
