Description
A quieter route than PlaEas 1, suggested by Kate S. Avoids the direct but busy main roads so it is a little longer, but also greener. Uses the Greenway, a linear park/path, quieter back streets (often with trees) and Central Park near East Ham. Also goes along the (mostly) pedestrianised High Street in East Ham instead of the "bypass". Bus stop and small shops on Boundary Rd, and a cafe and public toilets in Central Park

19 Sep 2024Definitely a nicer and quieter route than Plaeas One, that would take you along Barking Road. Central Park is a lovely place to stop as well.

19 Sep 2024A perfectly good route here taking in the available off-road stretches on the Greenway and through Central Park.

23 Nov 2023This is an easy pleasant route to follow with lots of facilities. It is a mixture of well surfaced off road paths and mainly quiet residential streets, the exception being at the East Ham end, where you meet the busy town centre.
The Greenway path is a shared cycle route, but has plenty of space. It is also lit at night. Central Park at East Ham has a nice cafe and toilets that are attached to it. It also has a good playground. Central Park is open during daylight hours, but is easy to circumnavigate should you find it closed.
The route contains buildings of architectural interest. There are a wide variety of facilities on route from pubs, shops, cafes, community halls and places of worship, to the local A&E.
The route is straightforward on a bicycle and also for those using pushchairs and mobility buggies. A popular route in parts with local families.
