Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

15 Jun 2022Walked from Loxwood to Petworth as the second leg of Billingshurst --> Loxwood --> Petworth on a very sunny day 14-06-2022.
The route is quiet and easy to follow mainly along bridlepaths either across fields or through woods. There are gates and kissing gates along the way, but I don't recall any stiles. It would be very quiet as it is away from any major roads, the only noise is from overflying aircraft, being close to the Gatwick flightpaths on days when planes are landing from a westerly direction.
Kirdford is a very pretty village at the half way point. There is a pub, The Half Moon and the footpath goes right through the beer garden. The village is surrounded by fields where several meadows are being left for the birds and bees. Lots of butterflies around and I disturbed a beautiful red-brown roebuck at one point. So lots of nature.
One section is along the long straight Blackhouse Lane which is then followed by quite a steep climb up through the woods at Brinkshole Heath.
No photos of the second half as I was yomping hard to catch a bus at Petworth!.
