Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

02 May 2021This is a great route which is very picturesque in parts. The gpx is not very accurate which can make navigation unclear so has been corrected and resubmitted as PETCAR THREE which also takes account of part of the route at the end in Cardiff which is currently closed because of construction works (May 2021).
This route comes with a seasonal warning - there are two parts (at the start and just before St Fagans) that could be very muddy if conditions haven't been dry and may not be suitable for the winter. The first doesn't have an easy alternative and is a single file path. It is easy to avoid the second by using the metalled road beside it.
The route is generally easy to navigate although this gpx is not very accurate. It is not very challenging but would not be suitable for wheels. Two areas to be careful with for navigation - 1. after St George's church go past the gate to the field which has barbed wire on it, this isn't the foothpath, it is tucked into the hedge a few metres on with a style to access the field, 2. when entering the woods between St Fagans and Fairwater there are numerous paths but you need to turn right and follow the gpx and you'll be fine.
