Description
From Heol-Y-Groes in Pencoed, use the path connecting with Felindre Avenue. From the end of this road there's a footbridge across the river, giving access to a path leading down to Felindre Rd (or walk down Felindre Avenue). Cross the A473 at the roundabout and continue towards Felindre. The main road section has a wide pavement/cycle path and pedestrian crossings at the roundabout.
The footpath between Felindre and Brynnau Gwynion is well-marked, and Brynna Road has a pavement. The footpath/track around the edge of Brynna is fine, but you could also stay on the road (turn onto Gellifedi Rd, which becomes Mynydd Coedbychan).
The track over the hill is fine apart from a couple of waterlogged spots. In hiking boots, resigned to being muddy, it was fairly easy to navigate it

Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

18 Feb 2025February 2025. Direction: Pencoed to Tonyrefail.
There was only one problem with this route, i.e. the track running north alongside the Ewenny Fach river now has a No Public Access sign on it and the footpath sign has been removed. I didn`t check it out as there is an easy alternative just the other side of the river, with a signed footpath running round the back of the pub / Travelodge buildings, which joins up with the original path after a couple of fields. Apart from this it was an easy to navigate route with well signed and visible paths and tracks all the way over the mountain and down into Thomastown. Apart from this, it was an excellent walk with excellent views from the mountain down across the Vale of Glamorgan and the Ely Valley. The track over the mountain is very rutted with deep puddles in parts, but with a decent pair of boots it`s ok.

05 Feb 2022This is a good route with varied scenery: flat around Pencoed and hilly north of Brynna. It’s easy to navigate along well-marked paths and tracks, but there were a couple of waterlogged sections on the track between Brynna and Tonyrefail.
