Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.
Help people know more about this route by volunteering to submit a survey.

10 Oct 2022I too walked this route with JTinsley (review on 09/10/2022), and agree that the route needs to be reworked. Given that St Michael's Way was generally very walking friendly, I agree that following it to Carbis Bay may well be the best alternative. This route also had some issues with short but un-safe feeling stretches of road, and unmarked, complicated or blocked rights of way intersecting between farms and open access land.

09 Oct 2022Walked this route from Penzance to St Ives and though the initial section following the St Michaels Way was very enjoyable, once the route deviated from this established trail we encountered numerous rights of way issues where landowners had removed, blocked or not maintained access which resulted in large portions of the middle third being inaccessible and requiring significant detours or travel along busy sections of road. This route and PenStI 1 therefore both need to be replaced by an alternative as they share the same problematic sections. A sensible alternative may well be simply following the St Michaels way for the majority of the route.
