Surveys
We are working to build-up a picture of what routes look like. To do that we are asking volunteers to survey routes so that we can communicate features, obstacles and challenges that may make a route desirable or not.
Slow Ways surveyors are asked to complete some basic online training, but they are not vetted. If you are dependent on the survey information being correct in order to complete a route, we recommend that you think critically about the information provided. You may also wish to wait until more than one survey has been completed.

07 Mar 2024Easy flat walk following the SW coast path.
Starts at Penzance railway station, ends at the causeway to St Michael’s Mount in Marazion.
There are hard surfaces most of the way, but there is a section of sand dune and beach approaching Marazion which would not be wheelchair friendly (photo).
The road into Marazion along the road has narrow pavement, and you may prefer to stay on the beach a bit further to avoid.

18 Jun 2023This is one of the easiest parts of the South West Coast Path! It is very straightforward, and well signposted, with a very clear paved route the whole way. The views of the bay and especially St Michael's Mount are superb. The map seems to show that it follows roads and railways but it is really not busy with noise, and your eyes are inevitably turned out to sea. Definitely worth going on out to the island if it's low tide!.

08 Sep 2022Lovely simple route so enjoy the view. Access the path at the bottom of the car park below Penzance station, that bit looks a bit dull but you soon pass the station and get out onto brighter paths. Mostly very easy, the paths run through car parks near marazion and you can walk through these, go through the dunes a bit or stick to a narrow roadway. Arrival in Marazion is usually busy so traffic and paedestrians get pushed together a lot. There are some lovely benches at the foot of the Godolphin Hotel overlooking the tidal causeway.

31 Mar 2022Easy route accessible by all. Path runs parallel to the railway line and road so can be a bit noisy. However the views over Mount’s Bay are terrific! You can always drop down on to the beach if the tide is out which is much nicer. A bonus is the ability to extend the walk to St Michael’s Mount, tides permitting. You can also detour to Marazion Marshes if you fancy a bit of bird watching.

28 Nov 2021This is a fairly straightforward route following the sea front. The recently renovated path runs all the way from Penzance railway station for most of the way. The final stretch offers a walk through the dunes or along a pavement into Marazion. At low tide many walkers will choose to walk along the beach as an alternative as often the path gets very busy.
