Strider
22 Jul 2023I walked from Catford to Peckham.
Generally a suburban pavement walk, but with some lovely surprises. Little cut-throughs and great views from Blyth Hill Fields. Quite a steep (13%) gravelly path up and down past Nunhead Cemetery, a bit slippy and may cause problems for wheels. Peckham Highstreet is busy and narrow. A good way to get between these two places avoiding big smelly roads.

21 Jan 2023 (edited 13 Mar 2023)Good route, good views from B H Fields. Mostly on quiet back roads.
Brockley Footpath (next to N Cem) is isolated and also steep, possibly not a good idea after dark. But was very peaceful on a bright wintry afternoon and you get a peek into the cemetery and the pallotments.
Lots of public/community toilets along the way, including Honor Oak Crem. Check Southwark and Lewisham council websites. Nice coffee in the Shelter shop on Rye Lane.
There's no crossing for Nunhead Lane and bends in the road in both directions. Safer not to take Scylla Rd, but stay on Consort Rd, using the lights where it meets Nunhead Lane.

01 Jul 2022Walked Peckham Rye to Catford. I used this Slow Way to simplify travel to the Brockley/Honor Oak area; it cut out a fiddly train change and meant I got to see some parts of SE London I had never explored up to now.
It’s a well designed direct route making good use of quieter streets and footpaths. I enjoyed the little pocket parks, and Blythe Hill fields with terrific views of Canary Wharf and the City.
Easy to follow, no steps, but there’s a couple of steep hills to tackle.

03 Jan 2022A decent route that avoids busy roads. The section along the back of Nunhead Cemetery feels quite isolated and may be intimidating if alone at night.
